Flooring & Mats for Hire
There are many types of flooring and mat, each specific to its purpose, so be sure to choose the right one. It is possible to hire flooring and mats for short term use.
Thick mats are more suited to lying or tumbling exercises, where maximum cushioning from the floor surface is required. Thin mats are better where stability is important (in yoga and pilates, for instance), or for placing under machines to prevent damage to the floor. Mats with a shiny surface can become slippery when wet, so most have a textured finish. Interlocking mat tiles are a great solution for larger areas.
Hire of flooring for commercial use is common especially for martial arts events. Hire of rubber machine mats is less common as most gym floors are already designed to take the impact of cardio machines.
Some customers hire an area of rubber tiles to create a sealed surface in a room for training. Insulating the floor with foam rubber flooring is a good idea and with rental properties it also protects the hard surface beneath.
Areas for judo, taikwondo and other martial arts need thicker foam mats often called tatami interlocking tiles and we hire these to many events and some homes. They are brightly coloured and absorbent of shock.
Hard flooring types, like laminate effect vinyls, are never hired as they need to be permanently glued down.
A Weightlifting platform can be useful for protecting a floor when doing heavy bar exercises including weightlifting squats, deadlifts, and clean & jerks.
The platform has a thick wood centre and rubber sides which can take heavy impacts such as dropping the barbell from a height. We have hired these to commercial events.
A sled track or running track surface can be created indoors using a bristle surface with markings on. This can form part of the floor as it is laid at the same time as the other finish.
