Exercise Cycles for Sale

Indoor cycling involves mostly the lower body muscles - studio cycles are an exception to this rule - and has the advantage of being low impact, therefore making it ideal for most people. It is an aerobic exercise, with benefits including cardiorespiratory fitness, fat loss and muscle toning.

Buying a high quality exercise cycle for home use is the best plan as they are one of the most popular forms of indoor exercise and the machines are used regularly by young and old.

For cyclists wanting to increase performance, all of the types of exercise cycle have benefits. In Winter, it can be difficult to make the time and inclination to ride outside, with the weather being poor and the morning and evenings being dark. Riding indoors is a good solution, and also mixes up the method of training.

There are 4 styles of Indoor Cycle available for sale:

Upright Cycles have a “sitting up” position, with a comfortable saddle and adjustment for height and reach. Most have programmes to keep the training interesting, and some have step-through frames, making them more suitable for infirm or injured users.

These are smooth to pedal and quiet with electromagnetic resistance, so buying an upright cycle for even a small home is not intrusive.

These are the most popular kind of cycle to purchase and most larger home gyms will have one. Cyclists look for the top reviews before buying an exercise cycle as there are budget ones on the market that have poor quality.

The best upright cycle machines have sturdy frames and are reliable. Most popular are Sole, BH and Gym Gear models.

Recumbent Cycles have a sitting down position, with a back rest, and therefore are recommended for those who are infirm, injured or suffering with back pain.

This is a popular way to be comfortable while training and domestic models usually have interesting programmes to keep the heart rate on track. They are however longer than all other kinds of cycles.

When recovering from an injury or when very overweight, recumbent cycles are ideal to use due to the walk through frame seen on many models.

A local fitness shop like Fit Hire in Hampshire will give free advice about indoor cycles and you can try one before buying.

Spinning or Studio Cycles simulate racing cycling indoors. They are designed for more aggressive workouts, so the handlebars are lower, and the saddle is smaller. This enables the user to ride off the saddle and even pedal backwards, thanks to a fixed wheel system. A home studio cycle works in the same way as a commercial one.

Buy an indoor cycle for a more intense workout, with HiiT training as part of the package. Some models have connection to apps and videos to simulate being in a class in a virtual training way.  Most home spinning bikes are fully adjustable for every size of user, and some models like the BH iAirMag have Bluetooth connections for a class setting, to feed back performance statistics.

Although Peloton and Echelon sell this style of cycle there are other more affordable brands for home use.

Triathlon and cycle club members will buy a spinning cycle to train at home which improves fitness and endurance. The aim is to increase the heart rate so that the body is in an aerobic state and the muscles are pushed to new limits, which promotes growth and improves endurance.

Upper Body Cycles or UBEs are specifically designed for training without using the lower body. This makes them ideal for injured athletes, certain disabled users, or anyone wanting to increase upper body endurance.

Buying an upper body ergo is a good option for those who have a long term injury or disability. We have had disabled athletes who buy one of these prior to competing, although many gyms have them for members to use.

The best brands are SciFit, TechnoGym and Matrix.

Buy a UBE so that a physiotherapist can help you build up arm strength or simply train without using your legs.
