Rowing Machines for Hire

Indoor rowing is a great way to train, although most machines do not simulate rowing a real boat very closely. It involves almost all of the body’s muscles, and is generally low impact, although a healthy back is essential. It is an aerobic exercise, with benefits including cardiorespiratory fitness, fat loss and muscle toning.

Apart from specialist “sculling” training machines, the best rowers are those with a centre – pull system, and the ability to change the resistance to suit your fitness level. Very tall users may find the cheaper models do not allow a full range of movement. Some models fold for storage.

Hire a rower for home use if you want a complete body work out and especially if you want to be more competitive at your rowing club.

One of the best rower rentals is a charity challenge when several rowers are lined up together and the users compete against each other.

There is technique involved, so if you hire a rowing machine the correct posture must be adopted. Having a strong back is a good starting point, and flexibility in the legs is important as the knees and ankles bend almost through their full range of motion on each stroke.

Possibly the best overall training type for fitness, rowing has become one of our rental favourites. We don’t hire cheap domestic rowers, as they do not work smoothly or compare well with commercial versions.

Since rowing machines are narrow, they fit into home gym designs easily and can be moved and stored quickly in the house.

Our favourite domestic models include water rowers and some air ones, but most magnetic ones don’t work very well. For home rowers it is best to avoid those that look like a bargain price as none of the cheap ones work properly or have the correct ergonomics.

Display models are available at our fitness shop which is south of the Surrey Hills.
