Fit Hire - UK Active
The UK government set up UK Active to service and offer partnerships in the health sector, and to campaign for better health across the entire population of the UK.
Most of the 4000 members are leisure centres, gyms, sports clubs and individuals who want to be part of the promotion of fitness within an active group that is supported by central government and manufacturers of fitness equipment.
With events, promotions, seminars and networking UK Active reaches a large proportion of health sector, often indirectly, as it has influence over some of the “big picture” issues such as legislation and guidelines for gyms, leisure centres and local authorities.
With Baronness Tanni Grey-Thompson as chair in recent years, there have been significant improvements in the awareness of the need for exercise regardless of age, gender, background or status.
Strategic partners include MyZone, Sainsburys, Serco, British Weightlifting, and Willmott Dixon.
